AsIAm Announces Founder-CEO Transition

(Issued Dublin 17 June, 2026) The Board of AsIAm today announced that Founder- Chief Executive Officer Adam Harris will step down from his role later this year following his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Social Entrepreneurs Ireland.

Adam founded AsIAm in 2014 with a vision to improve the lives of the Autistic community in Ireland and under his leadership, the organisation has grown from a start-up into one of the most respected social entrepreneur-led organisations in Ireland. AsIAm has an ambitious vision of an Ireland in which every Autistic person is accepted as they are “equal, valued and respected” and has the same chance, as any other person to live, learn, work and play in the community.

The Board has commenced a formal succession process and will oversee the appointment of the organisation's next Chief Executive Officer. Adam will continue to lead the organisation throughout the transition period and work closely with the Board and leadership team to ensure a smooth and effective handover over the coming months.

Shaun Murphy, Chair of the Board, said: “On behalf of the entire Board, I want to express our sincere gratitude to Adam for his exceptional contribution to AsIAm.

Adam’s vision, determination and leadership have shaped AsIAm from its earliest days and driven very effective advocacy that has made a lasting difference to the Autistic community we serve. His contribution extends far beyond organisational growth. He has built a strong culture, a dedicated team and an organisation that is highly respected.

While we are very sorry to see him leave, we fully support his decision to pursue this next leadership opportunity and wish him every success.

AsIAm has strong governance, committed leadership and staff, trusted stakeholder relationships and a clear strategic direction. That strategy sees AsIAm as determined advocates for the rights of Autistic people, both extending the reach of our services and helping to take down barriers faced by our community. The Board is confident that the organisation is well positioned for its next chapter. ”

Adam Harris, Founder and CEO, said:

“Founding and leading AsIAm has been the privilege of my life. What began as a platform for Autistic voices to be heard and understood, has developed into a movement for change, working across Irish life, in communities across our country. That success belongs to many people – colleagues, partners, funders, Board members past and present, supporters, stakeholders and in particular the community members we serve who have shared the journey and contributed to building something genuinely meaningful. Today I also want to thank my family for their support on this journey. My husband, Daniel, who has been by my side for so many of these years and my parents, Mary and Bart, whose advocacy in removing barriers for me as an Autistic child is what has made all of my work to-date possible.

This decision has not been easy. AsIAm has been a huge part of my life for almost 15 years. After considerable reflection, I have accepted the opportunity to become Chief Executive Officer of Social Entrepreneurs Ireland, one of AsIAm’s earliest supporters. I am committed more than ever to contributing to positive social change and will remain involved in the Autistic community in many ways.

I firmly believe that AsIAm is ready for its next chapter. We have an aligned team, robust governance led by our Board, a clear strategic vision and a strong sense of purpose.

I remain fully committed to the organisation throughout the transition period and will work closely with the Board and colleagues to ensure a smooth and successful handover.

I will leave with enormous pride in what has been achieved and complete confidence in the future of AsIAm. I will always be a supporter of AsIAm.”

The Board confirmed that the organisation's mission, strategy, programmes and commitments remain unchanged and that further updates regarding succession arrangements will be provided in due course.
