Employers and Jobseekers

AsIAm Autism Legal Clinic
I am an EmployerI am a Jobseeker

Recent figures from a report launched by IrishJobs and AsIAm show that 85% of Autistic people in Ireland are unemployed or underemployed. This not only has significant financial consequences for our community, but also often contributes to social isolation and a loss of independence and dignity.

Critically, it represents a major loss of talent to both employers and our society. We know diverse workplaces are more successful and yet the knowledge, experience, expertise, and unique perspective of our community is all too often lost.

Education and Partnership Programmes for Employers

If you are an Employer seeking to understand more about how you can support Autistic employees in your organisation, you have come to the right place!

At AsIAm we are passionate about empowering Autistic people to reach their full potential in every part of life, and employment is a very important area.

Understanding how to create an inclusive recruitment process is fundamental, but so too is appreciating different potential means of supporting Autistic employees in the workplace on a day-to-day basis, across the whole employee lifecycle.

Our AsIAm Employment Partnership programmes consider the different stages of the Employment Lifecycle and supports you in gaining greater awareness of the Autistic experience in the workplace.  This will differ for each person as everyone is unique – however we can support you in gaining a greater understanding, covering topics such as Communication, Interview Planning, Line Manager support, Reasonable Accommodations, Onboarding and much more.

Once you have completed the education element of the programme, you can become an AsIAm Employment Partner and be invited to join our Communities of Practice forum.  Membership of this group has many benefits, including continued education on topics of interest as well as support from our dedicated Employment Officer who will work with you to advertise your vacancies within our community of job seekers.

More information on this can be found in the section below on Job Opportunities with Employment Partners.
If you would like to know more about how to become an AsIAm Employment Partner, please contact us at employmentpartnerships@asiam.ie – we would love to tell you more! We hope to hear from you soon!
